ScrubCert: Phlebotomy & Medical Assistant · Last updated: September 5, 2026 · Privacy Policy

ScrubCert is a study app for the phlebotomy and medical assistant certification exams in the United States. It covers seven certifications:

For each one it contains original practice questions written across the domains of that exam's official content outline, full-length timed practice tests that follow the official number of questions per domain, a scored test for every domain, worked calculation problems, a glossary, and a free guide explaining how that exam is administered and what it takes to keep the credential afterwards.

ScrubCert is an unofficial, independent study aid. It is not affiliated with the NHA, the ASCP, the AAMA, the AMT, the NCCT, any school, any test administration company, or any textbook publisher.

Email: rafael@orejita.com

Write in English or Spanish — both are read. If the question is about something not working, please include which iPhone you are using and which iOS version. Expect a reply within two business days.

There is no phone line and no chat. One person reads that inbox, and every message gets an answer.

I paid, but the content is still locked

Open the app, tap "More" at the bottom right, then tap "Restore purchases". That asks Apple whether this Apple ID already bought the package and unlocks it again.

Use the same step after reinstalling the app or moving to a new iPhone. Your purchase belongs to your Apple ID, not to the phone, so you never pay twice.

If it still does not unlock, email rafael@orejita.com and say which Apple ID region you buy from. Do not send your password — nobody will ever ask you for it.

Is it a subscription?

No. Every purchase in the app is a single payment that never renews and never expires. There is nothing to cancel.

What can I buy?

Three kinds of one-time purchase:

Buying one certification never locks you out of another purchase later, and the bundle of all seven unlocks everything the app has now and everything added to it in future updates.

I want a refund

Purchases are processed by Apple, not by us, so refunds go through Apple. Sign in at reportaproblem.apple.com with the Apple ID that made the purchase, find the item, and request a refund there. Apple decides those requests; we are not able to issue refunds on their behalf.

What is free and what is paid

Free, with no purchase and no account:

The one-time purchase unlocks the full question bank for that certification, all of its timed practice tests, a scored test for every domain, custom quizzes, your missed and bookmarked questions, your test history, and the readiness score, with no limit on attempts.

What is free stays free. Nothing is taken away after a trial period, because there is no trial period.

How do I read it in Spanish?

Tap "More" at the bottom right, then choose the language. Everything is available in both English and Spanish — the interface, the exam guides, and every question with its explanation. Inside any question you can also flip that one question between English and Spanish with a single tap, which is the easiest way to learn the English term you will see on exam day. You can switch at any time, and your progress is kept.

The real exams are given in English. Studying in Spanish is a way to understand the material; the app always shows you the English wording too.

Does it work without internet?

Yes. Everything is stored inside the app. The only moments it needs a connection are when you make or restore a purchase, because that step talks to Apple, and when you choose to download a content update.

Which exams does it cover, and how closely?

Each practice test in the app has the same number of scored questions as the real exam, the same time limit, and the same number of questions per domain that the certifying body publishes in its current test plan or content outline. When a certifying body publishes a new outline with a start date, the app carries both and lets you choose which one you are sitting.

Each test is fixed — Test 4 is always Test 4, so you can finish it, retake it and compare your score — and no two tests in a series share a single question.

Some real exams include a few question formats an app cannot reproduce exactly, such as drag-and-drop or select-all-that-apply items. The guide for each exam says so, and how many to expect.

What passing score does the app use?

The one the certifying body publishes, and the guide for each exam names it: a scaled score on the certifying body's own scale, not a percentage. Because scaled scores cannot be converted exactly to a percentage of correct answers, the app's readiness score is an estimate that tells you which domains need work; it is not a prediction of your result.

I think an answer is wrong

Tell us. Inside any question, tap "Report this question", or email rafael@orejita.com with a screenshot. It will be checked against the public source it cites — the CDC, OSHA, CLIA, the FDA, the National Institutes of Health, and others named in the app. If it is wrong it gets fixed in the next content update, and you get an answer either way, with the source, explaining what that source actually says.

Content updates

Questions, explanations and guides are updated inside the app without waiting for a new App Store version. The "Content" row under "More" shows the date of the content you have. Downloading an update is your choice; nothing is sent from your device when you do it.

Accessibility

The app follows the text size you set in Settings > Display & Brightness > Text Size, including the accessibility sizes. It has a full dark mode that follows your system setting. Right and wrong answers are marked with an icon as well as a color, so they can be told apart without relying on color, and the illustrations carry descriptions for VoiceOver.

If something in the app is hard for you to use, write and say so. That feedback gets acted on.

Deleting your data

Your progress is stored only on your iPhone. Deleting the app deletes it. Nothing of yours is held anywhere else, because nothing is collected. See the privacy policy for details.
